Gregor stood at the front of the line to the executor's council chamber. He had been there all morning, waiting for the horde of people ahead of him to be seen by the executor, present their business and be shown out so that he might eventually have his chance to see the ruler. It was now almost mid-day and he was losing patience. He began to finger the obsidian ring on the middle finger of his right hand. He was actually nervous about this meeting. He was an extremely powerful individual in Mergaard and even in the rest of the kingdom, but meeting with the Executor always made him nervous. This was one of the few men in the country who could have his way with him and not have a knife sticking out of his back moments later. This was a man of power surpassing even his won. This was frightening.
This meeting could change all of this though. If this trade agreement went through with the executor, he could expand his trade empire even further and do so under the banner of the Zollverien kingdom, allying himself with the executor and the state.
Several more minutes passed until an attendant stepped out from behind the ornate driftwood doors and told him to come in.
His heart all atwitter, he took a few steps forward into the audience chamber. Before he did so, however, he removed his 0obsidian glasses. He never took them off while waking, but for the executor he had to show the utmost respect. With this, he walked into the audience chamber.
